Vivek Ramaswamy’s surprise appearance at South Carolina GOP event raises eyebrows

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is continuing his campaign in South Carolina and made a stop in Dorchester County on Saturday. Ramaswamy will be the keynote speaker at the Dorchester Shrine Club for the “Faith, Family, and Freedom Dinner” hosted by Dorchester County GOP Fundraiser.

Ramaswamy’s return comes amid Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s journey through South Carolina. The Ohio-based biotech entrepreneur had been campaigning in Iowa earlier, hosting events at the Iowa State Fair.

Tickets for Saturday’s GOP event have already sold out, with an expected turnout of around 300 individuals. The program is set to begin at 5:30 PM.

News 2 spoke with Steven Wright, chairman of the Dorchester County Republican Party, before their party event on Saturday. He stated, “Dorchester Republicans are excited to host our third annual Faith, Family, and Freedom Dinner, and this year we are even more excited to host the person who is running for the office of President of the United States.” “Vivek Ramaswamy will be our keynote speaker this year. He’s in second place in many of the poles, in third place in most. We are thrilled that within the Republican Party, an emerging star will be our keynote speaker this year.”

News 2 reached out to the South Carolina Democratic Party for a statement regarding Ramaswamy’s arrival and is awaiting their written response. News 2 also contacted the Dorchester Democratic Party, which declined an interview.
